Welcome to the blog! Home to all things sewing, DIY, design and travel around the sunny state of Florida.
Last year’s Easter dress has finally made it to the blog! Granted, I only wore this over Zoom for Easter 2020 but it did make an appearance for Easter 2021 as well. I found this gem of a 90’s prairie dress when thrifting a Salvation Army and fell in love with the ditsy floral pattern. Upon further inspection, I noticed it was very well made (nice zipper, french seams, pin tucks across the bodice, rayon fabric) and it fit pretty well without any major adjustments – bonus!
To start, I chopped off about half the skirt length. Using the excess skirt fabric, I then added a ruffle 2X the width to the bottom skirt width and also each sleeve. I used the “wrong” side of the fabric to add contrast for the ruffles as well. And that was it! A pretty simple but satisfying thrifted refashion.
Make sure to scroll down to the bottom for a *very* lovely before picture! 😉
